Multifunctional communication gateway

The RANGER Concept of Atlantik Elektronik allows a quick entry into the world of wireless communications. The RANGER family covers a variety of universal gateway-platforms for communication, tracking and process automation. In addition, the RANGER Embedded Development Kit (EDK) includes all necessary hardware and software for a successful entry into the world of wireless communications.

The RANGER controls street lighting as well as lighting systems in buildings. Possible function are retrieving sensor data, controlling actuators, detecting transponders and many more. Atlantik Elektronik has implemented and combined a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 Controller, a ZigBee and a Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth components and related antenna technologies (such as GPS, GSM, LTE, RFID, UMTS, UWB, NFC) within the Embedded RANGER.

If the communications gateway is implemented in the field of street lighting, it can take the role of a master/coordinator via GSM/GPRS or Wi-Fi, and manages or controls the connected street lights via the 2.4 GHz ZigBee wireless network (IEEE 802.15.4).

Tasks such as remote diagnostics, data acquisition and dimming can thus be carried out easily from anywhere. An indoors utilization of the Embedded RANGER allows the control of light elements and sensors such as motion detectors and daylight sensors. This is possible through the implementation of the latest Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0. Each network device has got an integrated Bluetooth Low Energy node. Apps used on smartphones and tablet-PCs allow illumination profiles that can be selected either automatically or manually.
